Hermetic Kabbalah is a union of two threads of tradition. The first, Hermeticism, had its origins in the Hellenistic Egypt of Late Antiquity. The second, Kabbalah, is an aspect of Jewish mystical thought and practice that originated in Southern France and Northern Spain during the early Middle Ages. The two threads came together during the Renaissance, and the result forms a major part of what is called “the Western Esoteric Tradition”.
This site had its origins in the early life of the Internet, years before the World Wide Web. Early material by Colin Low circulated via Usenet, an early network of chat forums. The first version of this site was created in 1995 and it has been running ever since.
The aim was always to provide a broad, non-commercial, and non-partisan view of the traditions.
